Family judo class
The family class is a wonderful opportunity to spend quality time with your children. Learning self-defense and martial arts techniques in a fun, friendly, family environment while getting fit is a rewarding endeavour worth investing in.
"I remember former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau tousling with his three boys at my parent’s martial arts school. PM Justin and his brothers Sacha (Alexander) and Michel loved it. They were the perfect age to participate together: 10, 8 and 6 years old. The night before PM Pierre retired, he brought his boys to judo and because of a big snow storm, they were the only students that showed up. I like to think that he retired because he saw the value of …family judo time! Some of my fondest memories were doing judo with my father and also with my sons (when they were small and I could still throw them at will). Don’t wait, because your children are getting bigger and stronger by the week!"
Judo is made up of mainly holds, escapes, chokes, arm locks, foot sweeps and throws. Chokes and arm locks are reserved mainly for the older children or adults. Many of the throws will be practiced on the soft crash mat, so not to worry. Some blocks, strikes and kicks are practiced and applied to self-defense. The class is recreational and not competitive in nature.
Karate Class (kicking, blocking, punches/strikes) also runs at the same time as the Family Judo. A family member can opt to sign up for the Sunday Karate rather than Judo and take advantage of the family discount. Lim Vannarith is an experienced Cambodian Karate instructor 3rd degree certified. His expertise is Kumite (sparring) but it is well hidden under his gentle demeanour which is very non-intimidating and perfect for beginner Karate students.
Ten class packages are available with a six month expiry date for these programs.
