“Ju” is a concept. The idea behind this meaning of Ju is “to be gentle”, “to give way”, “to yield”, “to blend”, “to move out of harm’s way”. “Jutsu” is the principle or “the action” part of Ju-Jutsu. In Japanese, this word means science or art. Atemi-waza (striking techniques), Kuzushi (breaking of balance), Nage-waza (throwing techniques), Kanzetsu-waza (joint locking techniques), Shime-waza (choking/strangling techniques), Katame-waza (grappling techniques), and Ne-waza (ground immobilization techniques) are taught in a relaxed and safe environment. Proper Ukemi (breakfalls) are taught for safety. Because of the inherent danger of the techniques used, Randori (free-practise or sparring) is minimal. Recommended for Men and Women over 30 years old.
